The MAS Chemistry study program lasts one year (2 semesters) and carries a total of 60 ESPB points. After completing the studies, the professional title of master chemist is acquired.
In the MAS Chemistry study program, in addition to the two compulsory subjects and the study-research work, all other subjects are optional. The MAS Chemistry study program ends with the preparation and defense of the final (master’s) thesis, which is the result of the student’s independent work, through which the student shows not only independence but also creativity in the application of acquired theoretical and practical knowledge. Making the final (master’s) thesis starts already in the first semester and lasts until the end of the second semester. The defense of the final (master’s) thesis represents the final exam for the academic title of master chemist.
The study program enables students to acquire broader knowledge and skills in the field of chemistry. The purpose of the MAS Chemistry study program is to achieve appropriate competencies and in-depth academic knowledge necessary for competent work in chemical laboratories in all branches of industry, in development, control, service, research laboratories, as well as in educational institutions (primary schools, gymnasiums and secondary vocational schools). . Academic education within this study program enables the continuity of education acquired in basic academic studies in chemistry or related study programs. Students acquire such a level of knowledge and competences that open the possibility for the student to enroll in third degree studies.
The academic chemical education provided by this study program is aligned with the latest scientific achievements of modern chemistry and is designed to encourage graduates to permanent training and further professional development.
The study program has clearly defined goals. The goals of the study program are focused on the acquisition of skills and specific knowledge in accordance with modern trends related to chemistry studies at the level of master’s academic studies.
The study program enables students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge for successful understanding and solving of current problems in the field of chemical sciences, in education, culture, healthcare, public services, state institutions and other activities.
Specific objectives of the MAS study program Chemistry are aimed at acquiring academic skills and specific knowledge (competencies) and enable the student to:
• acquires knowledge and understanding on the basis of which he will be able to perform his activity professionally;
• acquires the ability to use professional literature from various sources;
• uses modern methods of processing and presentation of results, compares his results with literature and presents them in a clear way;
• thinks critically, analyzes facts and adopts ethical principles in science;
• adopt significant ethical, pedagogical and methodical principles that will enable him to work successfully in educational institutions;
• develops the possibility of successful presentation of acquired knowledge by applying classic and modern teaching methods and tools;
• works effectively in a team and multidisciplinary environment, with the ability to learn throughout life;
• exchange of practical experiences and knowledge, which will additionally contribute to the improvement of his competences;
• independent application of knowledge;
• they use the acquired knowledge and skills for work, their further professional development and continuing education at doctoral studies.
By mastering the study program, the student acquires the ability to:
• mastering the methods, procedures and processes of research and in this way is able to solve specific problems using scientific methods and procedures;
• to transfer his knowledge and skills in the best possible way in the educational process using modern information and communication technologies while respecting professional ethics;
• application of information technologies in the processing of chemical information;
• critical presentation of the studied literature;
• the ability to apply fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in chemistry and related natural sciences to a range of theoretical and practical problems.
Upon completion of these studies, based on the acquired knowledge, the student will be able to solve scientific and professional problems, to work in chemical laboratories of various profiles and purposes (research and development, quality control, standardization of methods).
The content of the MAS Chemistry study program, the knowledge and competences that the student acquires, represent a good basis for deepening scientific knowledge in third degree studies.
