
Basic academic studies in Rehabilitation last 4 years (8 semesters) and are evaluated with 240 ECTS. It is planned that the teaching will be conducted through lectures, auditory, laboratory exercises and consultations, thus enabling the fulfillment of pre-examination obligations and preparation for taking final exams in selected subjects. Each carries from 3 to 8 points. For most subjects, the number of classes ranges from 60 to 75. The semester lasts 15 weeks.
The study program should primarily train staff for the development and application of modern program models in education and rehabilitation. This is based on the fact that education should provide the possibility of choosing a profession and employment in public and private organizations and institutions operating in the field of sports, recreation, tourism, prevention and improvement of health, education, rehabilitation and treatment, training students to independently monitor, acquire, develop and apply modern scientific and professional achievements, providing opportunities for graduated students to enroll in graduate academic studies – master’s degree, after completing basic academic studies.
After graduation, the therapist is trained in the program of application of physical agents and specific programs of kinesitherapy, with the aim of training disabled people. The therapist closely cooperates with the physiatrist and other members of the rehabilitation team in the formation and implementation of the rehabilitation program. The program is carried out individually according to the remaining abilities of the patient, which can be used to achieve independence in activities of daily life or the work process. Special emphasis is placed on the elements of social rehabilitation and improvement of the quality of life. The therapist leads regularly rehabilitation documentation. General abilities of graduated therapists are mastery of research methods, procedures and processes, development of critical and self-critical thinking and approach, application of knowledge in practice while respecting the principles of professional ethics. Therapists acquire subject-specific abilities to solve concrete problems with the use of scientific methods and procedures, monitor and predict changes in the direction of development of technologies in rehabilitation and evaluate and transfer the way of using new technologies to individuals and organizations, as well as to live and work in accordance with the rules of society community.
