Prof. Dr. Zana Dolicanin is the new rector of the State University

The Council of the State University in Novi Pazar (DUNP) today elected Dr. Zana Dolicanin, full professor of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, as the new rector of this higher education institution.

According to the established procedure, the Senate of the State University previously, on October 5, following the proposals from the department level, determined the list of candidates for rector, which included prof. dr Zana Dolicanin and prof. Dr. Rade Grbić.

At the end of the election procedure, the Council, as the highest governing body, today decided by secret ballot that Zana Dolicanin will be the rector in the next three-year mandate period until 2025.

At the meeting of the Council, it was pointed out that Zana Dolicanin, who successfully performed the function of vice-chancellor of the State University, previously also served as the head of the Department for Biomedical Sciences, and that she achieved exceptional results in pedagogical, scientific and professional work.

„The most important issue for the State University in Novi Pazar is the quality of the educational process: which implies regular classes, adequate teaching staff, modernly equipped laboratories and absolute dedication to students. Also, scientific-research activities and projects are key for the development of the university,“ Zana Dolicanin pointed out.

Zana Dolicanin is a doctor of medical sciences and a full professor at the State University in Novi Pazar. She began her university career in 2001 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Pristina with a temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica. She has been employed at the State University since 2009.

Prof. Dr. Zana Dolicanin was the head of the Health Care study program, the head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the period from 2015 to 2021, when she was appointed vice-rector of the State University in Novi Pazar. Since June 2022, he has been a member of the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Control of the Republic of Serbia.

She was in training at the Institute of Pathology of Shiga University in Japan. As a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education, she attended postdoctoral training at the University of Bordeaux-Segalen in France.

Zana Dolićanin comes to the post of rector after prof. Dr. Dragoslav Šumarac, who was acting rector for the past six months.
