Word of the Rector

The State University of Novi Pazar was established by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia on October 26, 2006 as the first integrated state university in the Republic of Serbia. Starting from the fact that the University is integrated, as stated in its founding document, the first rector prof. Dr. Ćemal Dolićanin and the Provisional Council decided to organized the University according to the model department.

Thus, on November 26, 2007, the University was accredited to perform scientific and research activities in the field of natural sciences and mathematics, technical, technological, medical, social and mathematical sciences. In addition, the State University of Novi Pazar was the first in the Republic of Serbia to meet the conditions for accreditation to perform educational activities for all three study levels and received accreditation from the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education on May 9, 2008.

Having in mind the fact that the development of modern society has largely changed the needs of students, both in terms of teaching content and methods of education, from the very beginning we opted for interdisciplinary modern teaching programs. Since we live in the time of rigid divisions, both in teaching and science, but also in scientific fields, we at the State University of Novi Pazar pay attention to social and other phenomena that are attractive to many academic profiles.

The priority task set by the University is to help students acquire knowledge which will, after graduation, enable them to become responsible experts and leaders, but also to continue improving their professional career in accordance with the requirements and rapid changes imposed by modern technologies. Thus, they will make a huge contribution to the cultural, scientific, educational, political and economic life in the region, but also beyond.

By developing the most modern study programs and methods, which is the fundamental commitment of the State University of Novi Pazar, students are provided with flexible and open forms of learning, such as seminars, mentoring, panel discussions, workshops, sessions and debates.
One of the priority tasks of the State University in Novi Pazar is to create quality young people who during their studies show disposition toward teaching and research work. Selecting the best students for associates and teaching assistants, the State University of Novi Pazar provides a secure and high-quality faculty that will find a path toward the highest quality universities around the world.

The past years have been marked by providing additional space for the teaching, equipping laboratories, and building a multifunctional facility.

It can be said that the State University of Novi Pazar has largely fulfilled the set goals, especially in terms of contributing to the economic development of Novi Pazar and its wider environment, and thus the democratic development of the Republic of Serbia, as well as promoting European integration.

High professionalism and responsibility of all employees is the priority and ultimate goal toward achieving mutual success.
