Rector's Message
The State University of Novi Pazar was established in 2006 and, at the close of its second decade, stands as a reputable higher education institution educating more than 3,000 students. Amid serious societal and academic challenges, the University has faced numerous trials while remaining committed to its obligation to serve as a pillar of stability, a space of knowledge, and an institution in which responsibility is not merely proclaimed but actively practiced. At this stage of its development, the University’s primary objectives must be to improve teaching quality, strengthen scientific research, and establish an efficient governance model grounded in transparency, accountability, and long-term planning. Internationalisation constitutes one of the key strategic directions of development. International cooperation is regarded as a strategic resource for enhancing the quality of study programmes, advancing scientific output, and increasing institutional visibility. To that end, intensive engagement in international programmes and the development of joint study programmes with partner universities are indispensable.
Internal development will be directed towards the professionalisation of governance and administration, the digitalisation of processes, and the improvement of internal procedures. Plans include strengthening departments and research centres, introducing clear and measurable criteria for academic advancement, and providing systematic support for early-career researchers through mentorship and professional development programmes. Scientific research activity will be strengthened by promoting interdisciplinary projects, increasing participation in international funding competitions, and enhancing publication output in high-impact, internationally recognised journals. An institutional approach to development must be maintained, characterised by clearly defined objectives, measurable performance indicators, and responsible governance. At the centre of this approach is the University as a stable, professionally managed, and internationally recognised academic institution. It is our aspiration that the State University of Novi Pazar continue to serve as the leading institution in this region, where young and educated professionals acquire qualifications in their respective fields and whose expertise forms the foundation for economic development. The knowledge acquired at the University should serve the cause of comprehensive development and ethical values, bringing benefit to every individual.
