Career Development

Career Development and Alumni Tracking Office — CDO.

The primary objective of the CDO is to provide support to students and graduates in developing the knowledge and skills relevant to their employment or continued education; to enable a specific group of students to gain work experience during their studies; to promote students and graduates as a resource for the region from which they come, with the aim of accelerating and improving economic development; to prepare students for entry into the labour market after graduation; to connect them with employers through various projects (such as Student Internships, visits to local firms and companies, etc.); and to provide support in acquiring the knowledge and skills required in the modern business world, familiarising them with current trends and the needs of the economy.

The CDO is also tasked with monitoring the work and career development of graduates (alumni) of the State University of Novi Pazar, maintaining a unique database with their employment status, and requesting that they, where possible, share their knowledge and experience with current students.

The key role of the CDO is:

to provide students of the State University of Novi Pazar with adequate support in mastering the knowledge and skills that will be relevant to their employment;

to assist in gaining work experience during studies and in developing an understanding of the business world, thereby preparing students for a successful transition to the next stage of career development after graduation.

The role of the CDO is not to act as an employment agency, but to provide students with relevant information to take advantage of potential employment opportunities through direct contact with employers, and to offer everything else that may facilitate employment.

In order to ensure an effective support system for students and graduates in developing the knowledge and skills relevant to their employment or continued education, the CDO is required to carry out the following tasks:

  • Provide students with access to the latest information on current vacancies, occupations and skills sought by employers; provide information on opportunities for further education and scholarships, both at home and abroad.
  • Work on developing the abilities, knowledge and skills that are key to the employment process for students and graduates; connect the student and graduate community with the business community.
  • Help students think objectively and constructively about available opportunities and to plan their future on the basis of facts.

The CDO organises workshops, short courses, talks, employer visits and presentations in order to help students better understand the business world and to acquire the skills necessary for organising and successfully managing their own careers.

  • Assistance in preparing CVs, cover letters and job applications
  • Individual counselling on career development and challenges faced by students and graduates
  • Advice and preparation for job interviews
  • Workshops, training sessions and soft-skills seminars for career development
  • Information on vacancies, internships, volunteering, scholarships and more

The CDO cooperates, first and foremost, with the Student Parliament of the State University of Novi Pazar, which brings together all students and their representatives. The CDO ensures that, through the Student Parliament, as many students as possible who are committed to fulfilling their responsibilities and duties are involved in its work.

The CDO cooperates with all University bodies that are in any way directly connected with students, so as to always have accurate information about new opportunities that the development of the University may offer students with the aim of their continuous advancement.

The CDO cooperates with all career development centres and offices already established at all public universities in Serbia and abroad, as well as with state institutions such as the National Employment Service, the Chamber of Commerce, employer associations and similar bodies.
