About the Department
The Department of Philosophical Sciences offers two study programmes: Psychology (at bachelor and master academic study levels) and Preschool Education (at bachelor academic study level).
The Psychology study programme integrates higher education activities with scientific research as components of a unified higher education process. The programme emphasises competent practical preparation of students for acquiring and demonstrating conceptual knowledge from core areas of psychology, as well as independent application of statistical methods in the social sciences and humanities. Core areas include research methods, biological bases of behaviour, cognitive psychology, personality psychology and individual differences, developmental, social and clinical psychology.
The Preschool Education study programme (four-year duration) is grounded in the latest results of international and domestic pedagogical and psychological research on all aspects of child development and early-age learning. The general objective is for students to acquire — through theoretical instruction and direct practical work — the professional competences of a reflective practitioner who will introduce new methods and resources, conduct research, and evaluate children's progress as well as their own work.
