The study program of integrated academic studies for Serbian literature and language lasts five years (ten semesters), has a total of 300 ESPB points; it is classified in the field of social and humanistic sciences and enables the acquisition of the professional title of Master of Language and Literature. The content and structure of the study program are aligned with the state of science in the field of contemporary Serbian and South Slavic philology. The basis of the study program is the history of Serbian literature; literary-historical trends in South Slavic literature with a special emphasis on Bosniak literature; diachronic perception of the world literature; theory of literature and methodology of teaching literature; theoretical knowledge and practical skills in teaching methodology of Serbian literature and language; knowledge in the field of linguistics, history of the Serbian language and contemporary literary language; and academic and general education contents.
In accordance with the highest academic standards of contemporary Serbian and South Slavic philology, to ensure the acquisition of scientific and professional knowledge and skills in accordance with the needs of society and projected social development.
The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to perform professional work in the field of philology and literature (primarily for application in schools). Qualification for educational work in primary and secondary schools; development of critical thinking skills and approaches in the research process; mastering the skills necessary to perform tasks in the very broad field of philology, literature and communication; the ability to understand, present, critically analyze, synthesize and solve problems in educational work; ability to understand, presentation, critical analysis, synthesis and problem solving in the field of philological sciences; ability to present their work; application of acquired knowledge in practice; the possibility of professional and scientific communication and cooperation with the narrower and wider environment; combining acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in order to analyze and solve concrete problems in the wider context of philological issues; using literature in accordance with the need to expand one’s knowledge.
